In 1994 four private companies build internet access for public; they could be considered the first internet service providers, and this access point was located in Washington, Chicago, San Francisco and New Jersey.
In 1995 was established the internet service providers association [ISPA], the first association for internet service providers, the objectives of this association were promoting competition, regulation and progress in the internet, and in this year around 160 access points to the internet was located around United States. Some of the most important internet service providers companies in 1995 were UUNET Technologies, Netcom Online Communications Services and PSINet, all of them with more of $39 million for annual revenue, and internet service providers market growing fast. For example in 1996 in some cities the 75 percent of residents had internet access for homes and business.
The number internet service providers increase dramatically, for example in 1996 around 1400 internet service providers, 3000 internet service providers in 1997, all in United States. With the development of telecommunications the internet service providers merged with telephone companies to bring service to small operations and small business, this merge began in early 1997. But with technology development internet service providers has had to improve their service and access point to internet, now wireless technology, bandwidth, mobile internet has made of the internet service providers market a hard field of competition for the different internet service provides companies around United States and the world, for example is estimated that more than 4000 internet service providers are located in USA, so is a competitive and hard market for the millions users of the interent.
